Discipline and rules are the foundation on which Samantha Ingles has built her life—the life of a spinster schoolteacher in a small mining town in the Canadian Rockies. All that crumbles from her grasp when part of a mountain crashes down on their community. Constable David Harty has little patience for the strict schoolmarm but has no choice but to leave his three young nieces in her care while he tries to discover the fate of his brother. Already, the girls have lost their mother and a brother to the landslide and require comfort and love while they await the fate of their father, possibly buried in the coal mine. With the mountain looming over their heads threatening more lives, and the town scrambling to save who they can from the rubble, can hearts find healing—both for their own sakes and the children in their care? |

Questions about Angela’s Story
What inspired this story?
I live only a short way from Frank Slide – one of the deadliest landslides in North America. The amount of rock covering the area, still takes my breath away. I wanted to really explore what happened there.
What was the hardest part of your book to write?
The hardest past was looking over everything horrific that happened in the Frank slide, and trying to keep a positive, hopeful tone. While acknowledging the tragedies, I wanted the focus to be on the miracles.
What do you hope readers learn from this story?
I hope readers come away with a sense of hope for their own lives – that despite circumstances, God is in control and is a God of miracles.

Questions about Angela’s Reading
What other Christian Historical Novels are similar to yours in setting or storyline? There are quite a few right now, actually. This story is part of a series by Barbour about disasters, A Day to Remember. Definitely worth checking out some of the other titles in this series! |
What Christian Historical Novel did you reread last, and why did you reread it? I have been in a Regency kick for my reading, so just finished An Improper Proposal by Audra Wells. I quite enjoyed it! |
