The only life Viola Chivers ever wanted was here in these Klamath Mountains, loving and serving her family. Pa’s ambitions for her were different: go back East and become a lady, in an elegant “finishing school.” But Vi’s already “finished,” and she knows what she wants: a life here with logger Stephen Miller, a man who shares her faith.
